Air Serbia marks the first anniversary of direct flights between Belgrade and Shanghai
11 January 2026
Air Serbia is commemorating the first anniversary of its direct flight service between Belgrade and Shanghai, one of the most significant business, financial, and cultural centres in China and the world. The inaugural flight on this route took place on 11 January 2025, providing Serbia with another vital direct air link to Asia.
"The introduction of direct flights between Belgrade and Shanghai aimed to foster stronger and more efficient connections between Serbia and this important global hub. During the first year of operations on this intercontinental route, we carried nearly 50,000 passengers, which clearly demonstrates that we successfully met market needs and fulfilled passenger expectations. This result further confirms the strategic importance of the Belgrade-Shanghai route and its contribution to strengthening the traditionally excellent bilateral relations between Serbia and the People's Republic of China, as it enables a faster exchange of experiences, the development of business cooperation, and more intensive cultural and tourism contacts between our countries," stated Air Serbia CEO Jiří Marek.
Besides Shanghai, the national airline has been successfully operating direct flights between Belgrade and Guangzhou since September 2024, further strengthening Serbia's air links with key Chinese destinations. Air Serbia continues to enhance its international network in accordance with modern trends and passenger expectations, with a specific focus on connecting Europe and Asia.
